Solo: a thousand miles from anywhere

producer, director, editor

In 2008, adventurer Dave Clarke set out to row from the Canary Islands to row the Atlantic Ocean single-handed. If successful he would become the first person to have both sailed and owed the North Atlantic Ocean solo.

This is his story of battling furious weather, suicidal fish and the struggle of being on his own in the middle of the ocean for three months.

Universal everything - deutsche bank video art

Editor

This was a making of documentary that I edited for Sheffield based artists Universal Everything about their immersive AV experience and video wall on the 38th floor of Deutsche Bank’s Hong Kong headquarters.

You can see more of the work I did with Universal Everything here.

alan moore’s dodgem logic

Producer, editor

Dodgem Logic was Alan Moore’s return to monthly publications and to celebrate this we filmed a small number of specials about this comic book wizard and his output.

There is another video here where Alan talks through the contents of an issue.

65daysofstatic: TOUR NICE KIDS

PRODUCER, DIRECTOR, EDITOR

This documentary was shot on one of the band’s first UK tours and it really shows how very far they have come since those first early days. Considering it was shot on a miniDV camera and cut on an incredibly old and slow MacBook, it holds up remarkably well.

futureverything

producer, director, editor

Whilst working as Conference Manager for Manchester’s FutureEverything festival I also produced the video content, hiring camera operators to shoot for me then editing the material together afterwards. This included promo pieces, the likes of which can be seen here, but also a full video archive of the speaking events.

I worked for FutureEverything between 2011 and 2014, overseeing 4 festivals.

sheffield docfest

Over my 10+ years as a casual worker for Sheffield Doc/Fest I did everything from checking tapes before movies to interviewing personal hero and editing superstar Walter Murch on stage. I mainly spent those years as a post-production supervisor, stage manager and venue manager.

NATACHA ATLAS - LIVE WITH THE TOULOUSE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

PRODUCER, EDITOR

Short documentary exploring the live work of Natacha Atlas and her shows in France with the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra. Shot by the band on tour and edited by myself, featuring a new voiceover from Natacha.

Richard Barrett: Construction

Producer, director, editor, camera operator

Respected avant-gardde composer Richard Bartlett wrote a new piece which debuted at Huddersfield’s Sound and Vision Festival and was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. This is a short documentary I made about the piece in which he discusses the inspiration for Construction and talks us through key segments.

The yes men - designing B’eau-pal

camera operator

I shot one of the cameras on this making of documentary about legendary corporate pranksters ‘The Yes Men’ and their stealth campaign against Dow Chemicals. This documentary focuses on the design team who created their B’eau-Pal water bottles. You can watch how their prank was executed here.

38 Degrees: Save our forests

producer, director, editor

I produced this documentary for campaign group 38 Degrees to celebrate their success in preserving thousands of hectares of woodland through an organised letter-writing, petition, direct action and protest campaign.
